Paddler friendly job opening in a paddler friendly location...

If you or anyone you know is looking for employment at a fun job in a great location... contact me ASAP. We have 3 more positions to fill in the next 3 weeks before our spring season starts. Specifics are as follows....

**Natures Classroom Atop Lookout Mountain (www.naturesclassroom.com) is an experiential outdoor education center serving public, private and home school students. Our facility, on the banks of the W.F. of the Little River, is on top of Lookout Mountain in the northeast tip of Alabama. We are 45 minutes south of Chattanooga TN, 2 hours from Atlanta GA, Birmingham AL, and 2.5 hours from Knoxville TN, and Nashville TN. Also 5 minutes from Desoto State park and only 15 minutes to Little River Canyon National Preserve.

**Opportunity Specifics:
Teachers and Interns facilitate students in hands-on experiential classes covering all curriculum areas as well as leading field hikes and teaching environmental ethics. Small-group activities are designed to foster group cooperation, communication, and team-building concepts using group initiatives and our low challenge course. Other activities areas often include, canoeing, night hikes, climbing tower, and the high challenge course.

**Perks, Benefits, and Wages:
Teaching staff contracts are seasonal from February through the end of May and/or September through the end of November.

First season Teachers with an undergraduate degree (in any subject) earn $50 per day. Interns are not required to have a degree. Room and board for all staff includes meals, a private room, training and use of a phone, internet, and washer/dryer. Other benefits include: workman's compensation, medical benefits, certification in CPR and First Aid, various pro-deals, and little to no weekend work required. Opportunities to earn extra money on weekends are often available. Nature's Classroom is located within a short distance of world-class caving, climbing, mountain biking, hiking, backpacking and paddling; with most weekends off and some 3-day weekends the staff is able to take full advantage of our great location.

**Ideal Applicants:
Teachers must have a four-year degree and be at least twenty-one, while interns must be at least eighteen and are not required to have a college degree. Emotional maturity, a sense of humor, and being able to put the needs of the program/students first are a must. Although individuality and diversity are celebrated, a professional appearance (woodsy professional, that is) is important as well.

**Application Process:
Call or e-mail for an application packet. On site interviews are preferred, but phone interviews will be conducted when necessary. Check out website ( www.naturesclassroom.com ) for additional program and employment information.
